On the journey of life, each person's interpretation of a landscape is influenced by their inner state of mind. Through landscape painting, artists reveal their inner emotions and reflections on life. C Square Gallery is honored to present “Destined”, an exhibition featuring the landscape works of Fu Tso-Hsin (b.1971, Taiwan) and Lourdes Navarro (b.1984, Colombia), from October 12 to December 22. Their works explore the connection between individuals and nature, offering unique interpretations of landscapes that resonate deeply with viewers, inviting them to experience the harmony between the soul and the natural world.
Landscape painting flourished during the Renaissance, with early works focusing on the realistic depiction of nature. However, as art history evolved, landscapes became more than objective representations; they reflected the artist’s subjective inner world. The rise of Romanticism in the 19th century filled landscapes with poetic contemplation, expressing the fusion of personal emotions with nature. By the 20th century, Modernism brought abstraction into landscape painting, using shapes, colors, and compositions to convey deeper philosophical ideas.

Fu Tso-Hsin and Lourdes Navarro have developed their interpretations of landscape painting within a rich historical tradition. Their works carry forward the heritage of landscape art and delve deeper into the resonance between nature and the human soul.
“Destined” suggests that every life journey has its direction and endpoint, and for artists, creation is inevitably a central mission of life. Though Fu Tso-Hsin and Lourdes Navarro come from different cultural backgrounds, their works both convey profound reflections on nature and life. Fu Tso-Hsin's paintings present a beauty of tranquility and solitude, symbolizing his inner contemplation and reflection. Navarro’s works, by contrast, are brimming with life and energy, expressing her pursuit of nature and self-actualization. The juxtaposition of deep calmness and lively expression invites viewers to re-examine the meaning of nature and humanity from different perspectives.
Through the works of Fu Tso-Hsin and Lourdes Navarro, we are led to step outside of our first-person viewpoint and reflect on our life journey from a third-person perspective. Upon closer observation, landscapes are no longer static; they become filled with inner interpretation and possibility, embodying our reverence for nature and emotional perception. As Hesse once said, when people embrace the gifts nature bestows, the achievements they reach will be the most sincere and beautiful, capable of touching countless hearts.
